Albums

Mr KDOE has an extensive vinyl collection, which we will feature on KDOE 102.3 7a-11a daily and here where you will get to see it first hand.

  1. Mr KDOE’s Vital Vinyl
  2. #1 Beach Boys Pet Sounds It was the 11th studio album by the boys from California. It was released on May 16, 1966. I purchased my first copy of it with my allowance when I was 8 years old and I’ve worn a few out over the years. I am continuing to search for an import version with bonus tracks. There are less than a thousand of those in circulation.
  3.
  4.  #2 Fleetwood Mac Rumors Not sure why it ranks #2 and not #1. Could be that it came out 10 years later than Pet Sounds and I had less time to fall in love with it. But Rumors is one of those rare collection of songs that sound better after a thousand spins than they did the first time.
  5.
  6. #3 James Brown Live At The Apollo It’s not only the most soulful album of all time, but the best live album. I listen to it sometimes and try to imagine that I was there on October 24th, 1962
  7. #4 John Lennon and Yoko Ono Double Fantasy Not only is it filled with some of the most well written songs of all time, it was released on November 17th, 1980, which was my first day to work at the cool record store Sound Warehouse. Everybody who worked there got to make an “employee pick”, that they put on the wall by our name. I was really proud of that.
